Heads or Tails

Skittles’, from Heads or Tales, provides a fun weekly meme. Today Skittles has prompted us with the word Mother.

Ya know, my mom and I were never really close, at least not until shortly before she died. She was a wonderful women, but our relationship always seemed so business like.

On the other hand, I think I’m a very good mom, (far from perfect), but my daughter and I are very close. To me, she has always been my priority. It’s interesting that I am so different than my own mother.

I’ve heard it said that bad habits are passed down from generation to generation, but lately, I’ve seen many occasions where it’s just the opposite. It’s wonderful when the bad cycle is broken. :)

What about you? Have you seen the cycle broken, either in your life or someone close to you?

He eats more!

Who said “I love you” first?
He did.

Who is taller?
He is by 8 inches.

Who sings better?
He does…by far. :)

Who is smarter?
He is….again, by far.

Whose temper is worse?
His although neither of us have bad tempers.

Who does the laundry?
I do.

Who does the dishes?
I do.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed?
He does.

Heads or Tails

Skittles’, from Heads or Tales, provides a fun weekly meme. Today Skittles has prompted us with the word Direction or any derivative thereof.

Soooo, most of your know I went to California last week. I had a blast. It was so wonderful to be with my kids.

Preparing for the trip wasn’t to bad, but I did need to get directions to the airport. I ended up leaving my car in one of those overnight lots, so when I dropped it off, I was directed to a shuttle that took me to the airport.

Once I got to the airport I was lost, but a nice security guard directed to the ticket counter. It didn’t take long to get my boarding pass and check my 1 bag.

After I checked the bag, I was directed to take it to another line to be scanned. Fortunately I didn’t have to wait, but was directed to the gate where I was to board my plane.

When it was time to get on the plane, I was then directed to my sit. At that point I relaxed and just enjoyed the ride.

Here are some pictures.

Heads or Tails

Skittles’, from Heads or Tales, provides a fun weekly meme. Today Skittles has prompted us with the word Express.

You may have heard, I’m going to California this Friday to visit my kids. I can’t EXPRESS how excited I am. Unfortunately, it won’t be an EXPRESS trip, cuz I will have to drive 3 hours to Tucson to catch a plane.

The plane however, will be EXPRESS ~ it takes only 1 hour to get to LAX. When I arrive, my daughter will pick me up so I won’t have to take the EXPRESS bus or train.

I’m hoping for EXPRESS luggage retrieval and airport exit. Did I say I can’t EXPRESS how EXCITED I am. :)

Heads or Tails

Skittles’, from Heads or Tales, provides a fun weekly meme. Today Skittles has prompted us with the word Fool. Since I don’t like to be fooled, I decided to write some of my favorite Bible verses regarding a fool.

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. Psalm14:1

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Proverbs 1:7

The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice. Proverb 12:15

Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands. Proverbs 14:1

Even a fool when he holds his peace is considered wise; when he closes his lips he is esteemed a man of understanding. Proverb 17:28

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself. Proverbs 26:4

He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe. Proverbs 28:26

Hope you enjoyed these verses too. I found these verses by using Bible Resource Online

Heads or Tails

Skittles’ blog is the home of Heads or Tales. Today Skittles has prompted us with the word Surprise.

This one is a kinda hard for me ‘cuz I don’t like surprises. However, people seem to like to surprise me anyway. My daughter is the worst. She’s always surprising me for some reason. :) But I think the best surprise ever was one I’ll tell you about for my HoT.

It was about 2 years ago……

and it was awesome! My friend planned the whole thing. Of course, Bob was in on it. The stinker! So anyway…..the night of my birthday, Bob tells me he’s taking me out to dinner.

First of all, I’m not much for celebrating. Especially my birthday, ‘cuz I don’t like being the center of attention. I just kinda like to keep it low key. Nothing exciting.

So when I told Bob I didn’t want to go, he insisted, saying we never do anything; which is true. As you might know, I’m totally a homebody. But for him, I said OK.

We got dressed up a little and headed to a really nice restaurant . When we arrived, I was totally shocked!! My friend had invited a few other friends to join us for dinner.

AND to top it off, her husband, who plays the guitar beautifully, hired a flute player, and they played live music as we enjoy a delicious meal.

Wow! Can you believe it?! This is something that only happens in the movies, and here it was, happening to me. Wow!!

I’ve gotta tell you, this was the best birthday ever. Deep down inside, I’d love to live like this all the time, but that’s just not possible. So whenever I need a little lift, I just look back on that very special occasion. I was so honored!

Heads or Tails

Jen, over at Tidbits of the Tippets, is the guest host for Skittles’ Heads or Tales. Please go visit her and make her feel welcome!

This week Skittles has prompted us with Heads ~ Any part of or place in the house

First I want to make it clear that our house is a home. The place that I call my refuge. Now, our house may not be the cleanest or fanciest, but it is home to Bob, Me, 5 dogs, 3 horses, (well, they actually live in the barn) and 1 macaw.

Sometimes I think our house belongs more to the animals than Bob and me. :) But they are what makes a house a home.

I also run my baby bracelet business out of the kitchen in my house, which is where I have my computer and beading table.

Our first “house” was actually a 5th wheel trailer. We lived there for 10 long months. When we finally got our single wide mobile house, we felt like we had a mansion. But, we quickly accumulated so many animals that we had to move to a bigger house.

This was a real pretty house with white trim and yellow siding. We had 10 acres and lived in that house for 10 years.

In June 2005, we moved to this house. It’s the nicest house we’ve ever had. We have 20 acres with a national forest as our backyard and only 1 neighbor, a mile down the road. (we like our privacy) I’m pretty sure we’ll live in this house for many years, but when it comes time to move, we will definitely downsize.

Why?? - Cuz we are getting older and keeping a house is a lot of work! But truly, there’s no place like home.

This week Skittles has prompted us with Heads ~ Green

Green forest

My day started by feeding my horses with green grass and pellets. Once back from feeding them, I made Bob some lunch, which included green veggies.

Then to work making my baby girl bracelets, one of which was made with Peridot Green crystals and pearls. It was sooo cute. :)

Finally, I got into the shower, washed with fragrant green soap and brushed my teeth with a pink and green toothbrush. Now it was time to dress and go into town.

I put on my jeans and a pink sweater, but not before I put on my pink and green bra. Shhhhhh

Once in the car, I headed into town, all the while, looking at the pretty green hills, covered with lovely green trees. I actually had a great time in town. I treated myself to a wonderful manicure and pedicure, as I sipped my green Mountain Dew. Then it was time for Walmart. Oh no!! But since I didn’t have to pick up a prescription, it wasn’t too bad. Except, I spent more green money than I wanted to. :)

After a nice afternoon, I headed home. Again, I feed the horses green grass and made dinner which included green beans. Finally, I got to relax, which I’m doing right now, as I eat my green lime sherbet. Yummy!

Soon I’ll go to bed, looking forward to tomorrow, when I can make some more green money as I put pretty baby girl bracelets together. Maybe another green peridot one. :)
