What I Know Now…

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

I have the honor of sitting at Kristen’s (An Ordinary Life) table, for the Mother’s Day Blog Bash Giveaway. (try saying that 3 times quickly, lol)

Part of my responsibility is to share with you all, what I know now, as a mommy.

Well, I can go a step further and share what I know now that I’m a grandma too! I remember when I first brought my precious daughter, Kelly, home. I was scared to pieces. I was VERY young and didn’t have a clue what to do.

With the help of my wonderful MIL, we made it through the rough first few months and as Kelly began to grow, so did my love for her. The only thing I would do differently now, if I had it to do again, is give her more of my undivided attention.

As mommy’s, our lives can end up one big RUSH! It’s not that we forget, or choose not to spend time with our precious children. It’s that we don’t have time. Or when we do, we’re so exhausted, that we have nothing left to give. Especially for mom’s that work outside the home.

But once we become a grandma, things change. Now we have the time, (hopefully), now we see things much differently, (what’s really important) and now we have more patience because we can send them home. :)

I count myself blessed of God for the wonderful daughter and granddaughters I have. Aren’t they beautiful?!

Hollys Corner

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Ya know, sometimes I find the best posts when I’m just browsing around. Like tonight. I was reading Holly’s blog, Hollys Corner.

She has the most beautiful post. I’d like to share it with you. I think it’s especially fitting for our holiday season. Worried about who might see the dirty house, who’s buying gifts for whom, scurrying around to make sure everything is just perfect. Please stop a moment and take the time to read this.

Hollys Post

Thanks for sharing Holly. It’s nice to be reminded.

I had no idea we could submit our blogs to Technorati. Well, I just did. I guess it will take a little bit for the spidies to find me, but I’m sure they will. If you’re not in Technorati, you may want to join. I think it will help your blog be seen. Good luck!

Ever Heard of Smorty??

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I hadn’t heard about blogging for money until recently. I knew about adsense for websites, but not how to blog for money. Blogging is fairly new to me.

While looking at many wonderful blogs, I found out about Smorty. Smorty is an ad agency of sorts, where you can select different topics to blog about. You need to do some research and then, if you feel comfortable, you simply post a little article about that topic. Basically it’s getting paid to advertise on your blogs. They call it blogging for money.

I really think this is a wonderful opportunity for wahms. Most of us need additional income for our families and this is one way to do that.

We can blog about what we love and share with each others, while at the same time, bring in a little extra cash. I’ve had my own website making baby jewelry for a year and a half now, and yet I still struggle to get sales. With Smorty, I can supplement my income when sales are down.

Blog advertising is also a way of sharing new things with our readers. You may not be interested in all the articles I write and get paid for blogging about, but some of the blog advertising may be just what you’re is looking for.

That’s how it was for me with Smorty. When I saw it on someone’s blog, I immediately went to check it out. And from my experience, Smorty is very fair and reputable.

So, although you’ll see some blog advertising on my blog, please never think that’s all you’ll see. The main purpose of my blog is to give to you, what I have been given.

Thank you for being my reader.

Christian Women and WAHM Business

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

I found this beautiful site today. I couldn’t wait to share it with you. It’s called Biblical Womanhood and is filled with tons of neat things.

The thing that caught my eye was the page I’m going to send you to. It talks about all the different kinds of things women can do to earn money and yet be home for her family.

There are a number of ideas and I think something in there just might spark your interest. Remember though. Starting a home business is a lot of work. It’s a “business” and must be looked at in that manner.

Yes, your hours are flexible but it’s still your business and you’ll put in many hours if you want to be proud of it.

You can do it!!! I’ll be quiet now and show you the link. :)

Tips on how to start your own business

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

I had some moms ask me how I went about starting my own work at home business. I thought I’d share a few things with you.

Someone once told me, the most important part of being successful, is to be passionate about what you’re doing. Find something that really gets you excited and figure out how to make money doing it.

I know that easier said than done, but in today’s information world, the Internet, we have tons of options.

You can have a site selling things you love to make, you can sell other peoples things, you can have affiliate sites, and you can even have a professional informational site focused on a subject you are passionate about.

Depending on which direction you decide to go, you’ll find wonderful resources available to you right on the Internet. I actually have another blog sharing my experiences with the start up of my business. Believe me, I’ve barely gotten started. There is allot to it.

So if you have questions or subjects you’d like me to cover, please just leave a post or take a look at Another Journey, my other blog. It’s not necessarily an easy thing, getting started, but if you don’t mind hard work and you love what you do, you’ll definitely find success.

I don’t know where we’ll go from here on this topic. I’ll kind of leave that up to you, but as I find things I think would be helpful, I’ll be sharing them with you. My passion is to help people, so their journey is a little easier than mine. :)

You’re worth millions!!

Young mothers have an overwhelming responsibility. Trusting God will help.

In the words of our Heavenly Father: Proverbs 31 Paraphrased by me.

She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls.
God wants you to know how special you are to Him. He has created you and knows your every need. Go to Him when things get tough……for the rest of this article.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, 2007
A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among American women. During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we renew our commitment to fighting this disease, raising awareness, and supporting those affected by breast cancer.

Research has shown that several factors may increase the risk of developing breast cancer, including family history, age, genetics, and obesity. By making healthy lifestyle choices and exercising regularly, individuals can help reduce the risk of developing breast cancer. Mammograms, regular self-exams, and clinical breast exams are also vital because they can help doctors diagnose cancer before it has a chance to spread. When breast cancer is detected early, treatment is more effective, giving hope to patients and helping save lives. …..to finish the article

There are few of us who have not experienced the devastating affects of cancer in one way or another. I lost my mom to lung cancer. I would like to take this opportunity to offer support.

Please have hope. It is vital! The medical field has come a long way in the treatment of this disease, so please do your best to find a qualified doctor, and make sure to surround yourself with happy, hopeful, helpful, positive people. Do the best you can to take care of you.

Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear…Isaiah 59:1

As a way of showing our support, I have made a lovely necklace, bracelet and earrings set. 10% of all proceeds will be donated to Internet Based Moms for the charity of their choice.
